On Thursday, February 12th, Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, and Anna Wintour—the respective goddesses of music, reality TV empires, and fashion—converged in Manhattan to see Kanye West present his latest clothing collection with Adidas. The pop culture triumvirate was joined by Kardashian and West’s daughter, North, and what can only be described as a giant red muff that Beyoncé held throughout part of the presentation. (Presumably, her personal hand-warming staff was out sick.)
Note that the star power of these front-row females was so strong, that the Getty photographer did not even include Jay Z, who was seated to Bey’s immediate right, in the picture. (Do you know how many times Jay Z has been asked to move out of a picture in the last few years?) Also there for the event were Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and Diddy.
The Guardian reports that the show opened with a West monologue about “how people are scared to create” and featured styles like “shredded army jumpers and oversized camouflage parkas for the men [and] white bodystockings for the women.” (One model told Elle.com that the body stockings “took about 20 minutes to get into.”) West also used the A-list Fashion Week gathering to debut a new song titled “Wolves,” featuring Australian singer Sia, which Rolling Stone reports will be the first track off of the rapper’s next album.
Judging by the front-row turnout alone, the event seemed to be a hit. . . even if North West started crying at one point and had to be escorted out.
